From July 11 to 12, the 2025 China (Suzhou) Photonics Industry Development Conference was held in Suzhou. Wu Qingwen, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor; Zhu Min, Chairman of the Municipal CPPCC; Li Lin, Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, UK; and Liu Aiqun, Fellow of the Singapore Academy of Engineering, attended the event.

This conference, themed "Leading All Things with Light, Empowering the Future," focused on core technologies and cutting-edge trends in the industry chain, bringing together top experts, leading enterprises, and research institutions to create a diverse and multi-dimensional industry event.

01. | Building a Silicon-Based Photonics Industry Technology Platform

 

 

At the opening ceremony, the launch ceremony for the China (Suzhou) Silicon-Based Photonics Industry Technology Research Institute was held. Min Dayong, Chairman and General Manager of Changguang Huaxin, participated as a corporate representative (first on the left). This platform is located in the second phase factory of Changguang Huaxin, focusing on core technologies and frontier directions of silicon-based photonics, gathering top research forces and industry resources to empower future industry fields such as data centers, AI computing, and intelligent driving.

 

02. | Leading the Organization of Two Major Thematic Forums on Optical Chips and Silicon Photonics Technology

 

 

Changguang Huaxin led the organization of two major thematic forums: the "Optical Chip and Materials Development Symposium" and the "Silicon Photonics Technology and Industry Symposium." Dr. Wang Jun, Vice Chairman and CTO of Changguang Huaxin, and Dr. Li Shunfeng, Executive Vice President of the Semiconductor Laser Innovation Research Institute of Changguang Huaxin, chaired the meetings respectively.

The Optical Chip Forum focused on collaborative breakthroughs in new photonic materials and high-performance laser chips, emphasizing key systems such as GaN, InP, antimonides, lithium niobate, and quantum dots, discussing their innovative applications in core devices like efficient laser chips, modulators, and detectors.

The Silicon Photonics Forum focused on silicon photonic integration technology, regarded as the core of future information infrastructure, showcasing silicon photonics' transformative potential in high-bandwidth, high-speed, low-power communication scenarios, as well as its application value in AI computing centers, intelligent sensing, and medical photonics applications.

 

 

Meanwhile, Dr. Xiao Yao, R&D Director and Assistant CTO of Changguang Huaxin, delivered a keynote report titled "Research on High-Performance Surface-Emitting Semiconductor Lasers" at the Optical Chip Forum. Centered on the two core scientific issues of "efficiency limit breakthrough" and "high-power single-mode output," he introduced Changguang Huaxin's research progress in structural optimization and performance enhancement of surface-emitting lasers, along with a series of internationally leading achievements.

 

03. | Full Product Line Showcase Empowering Diverse "Laser+" Applications

 

 

At this exhibition, Changguang Huaxin showcased products around applications in optical manufacturing, optical sensing, optical communication, and optical medical fields, including high-power semiconductor laser chips, LiDAR and 3D sensing chips, high-speed optical communication chips, laser pump sources, array modules, and direct semiconductor lasers. Targeted solutions were provided for different application markets, attracting numerous professional visitors and customers for consultation and exchange.
