Professor Wang Jun's research team from Changguang Huaxin CTO and Sichuan University recently published their latest research results in Light: Science & Applications, systematically studying the advantages of multi-junction VCSELs in electro-optical conversion efficiency through a combination of theoretical simulation and experiments. Simulations indicate that a 20-junction VCSEL can achieve over 88% efficiency at room temperature. Experimentally, a 15-junction VCSEL achieved a maximum efficiency of 74% at room temperature, with a corresponding differential quantum efficiency exceeding 1100%, representing the highest electro-optical conversion efficiency and differential quantum efficiency reported for VCSELs to date.

Higher power remains the industry's focus, representing the development level of comprehensive chip technology. The highest known level recently achieved a breakthrough in structural design and manufacturing technology with the ultra-high-power single-bar chip from Changguang Huaxin. The developed single-bar chip has a continuous power exceeding 100W at room temperature (chip stripe width 500μm) and an efficiency of 62%, making it the highest power single-bar chip reported to date.
